Who may use the library?

Anyone may use the library during regular business hours free of charge. You will find current best-sellers, encyclopedias, children's books, CD-ROM databases, large print books, movies, music, and genealogy materials. All residents of Wimberley and Hays County are entitled to a free borrower's card. Library cards can be replaced for a fee of $1. Those living outside Hays County may obtain a card, good for an entire year, for $25; a three-month library card is available at a cost of $10. Wimberley Village Library is a TexShare participant and will waive out-of-county fees for those with a TexShare card from their home library.

What Library resources are available for borrowing

Library patrons can borrow up to 20 books and 3 books on tape for three weeks with renewal privilege available unless others are waiting for the material. New books and other items in short supply may be limited in quantity per checkout. Back issues of magazines, video tapes, DVD's, CD's, and CD players can be checked out for seven days. Paperback books are traded or borrowed for an indefinite time; just let us count those at the circulation desk.

How do I get a library card?

Fill out an application form at the circulation desk and present your driver's license or similar identification. Minors need the signature of a legal guardian to complete the application form. The library card will be readied for your immediate use. Just present the library card or your photo ID to borrow materials.

What are the policies on overdue materials?

No fines are charged; however, patrons may not check out additional items until they have returned or paid for overdue materials.

What other services are available at the library?

Is the book you want checked out? Place it on hold: on a first come, first serve basis, that title will be put aside for you. You can even place holds online and the library staff will put them aside for you. The library staff will call you as soon as it arrives. You will have six days to pick up a requested book or three days to pick up a movie.

Do you need a title for a particular date? Plan well ahead and "reserve" the title for pickup when needed.

The Wimberley Village Library can arrange to borrow items from other libraries on interlibrary loan for your convenience. There is a waiting period of at least two weeks, and our patrons are asked to pay $2 to defray the cost of postage.

Computers are available for public use. Click here for details.

Community organizations can arrange to use the library building for meetings.  Contact us for information.

Are there any Children's programs at the library?

Pre-School Story Time:

Every Friday, 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. It's designed for children between the ages of 3 to 5 years old and their care givers. Story Time typically includes two children's stories, a song and fingerplay, an easy craft related to the theme of the day, and perhaps a flannel board activity.

The themes for upcoming Story Time sessions can be found here.

TODDLER TIME:

Every Monday,  10:30am to 11:30am.  It is designed for children ages birth to three years.  Toddler time can include a story, songs, finger plays and crafts.

How do I know if my child is old enough to participate?

If your child has moved beyond looking at the pictures alone in a children's book and can understand the story told in the words and pictures of a children's book, your child is probably ready. Discuss story time with your child before you come. Let him or her know they are expected to sit and listen while the story is being read, but also there will be time to sing, make a craft, visit with friends, and select some books to check out. Stay close and enjoy the stories too.

Who conducts the Pre-School Story Time?

Monica Rasco, the library's children and youth specialist, prepares and conducts Pre-school Story Time.

WHO CONDUCTS TODDLER TIME?

Stacy Clermont, the library's Youth Services Assistant Librarian, prepares and conducts Todder Time.

Texas Reading Club:

Texas Reading Club activities for school-aged boys and girls during June and July. Contact the library for more information.
